    Odd Telnet/SMTP Behavior

Turned out to be ISS protection services (old BlackIce). SMTP outbound was prevented in case the devices were turned into SPAM-bots. I let the machines process port 25 traffic and all is OK now. Thanks.

I am evaluating some new firewalls and Fortinet is coming close to the top in funtionality. I need some real-world users to help with my decision. My company has about 5000...

    Odd Telnet/SMTP Behavior

Hi All, In my DMZ I have mail-relay servers for processing various tasks that need to communicate via email to the outside. I have an inside firewall protecting the DMZ where these servers live. From inside my network I have a computer at (eg) 10.20.30.15. I can go on that system, enter telnet...

    Removing Old Policies - R61

Nokia running R61 Checkpoint - Seperate management station running on Windows/XP. I inherited this system and it has policy files from back to early 2006. How do I cleanly delete old policy files so they won't show up when selecting a policy to open? I started deleting things out of the fwdir...

Thanks Mike, that's just what I was hoping. And YES, I am going to mirror this thing this time. I totally blew myself out not being careful about the initial install a few months back.

    Which OS Version

Hi, I've got a SUN V245 server that originally came with pre-installed Solaris 10. The machine suffered a hard drive failure and is basically toast. I want to order a DVD set from Sun. FTP/SSL Problem Behind Checkpoint

Hmm, didn't think of that. I'll send the exact message I'm seeing in the morning. State governments are DIFFICULT to deal with, almost zero help tryng to figure out what's going on here. My sniffer traces didn't help much since it's failing at the hand-shake level of key exchange. THANKS!

    FTP/SSL Problem Behind Checkpoint

R61 running on a Nortel Alteon platform. I am the "client" side. I am using CuteFTP as the client code. I am trying to connect to an FTP server hosted by a state agency. I think it is an IBM mainframe but it doesn't matter I don't think. CuteFTP is set up to connect FTP with SSL (AUTH SSL-...

    HP OV Alternative

CA Spectrum. That the old Cabletron Software? Ran that years ago. Very pretty interface, fun to work with. Don't like doing business with CA though. I've chosen Solarwinds ORION network performance monitor system. Pricing was very good, discovery engine is nearly as good as Openview. Mapping is...

Resetting a Solaris 10 System To Factory

Hi All, I recently received a SunFire V245 server with Solaris 10 "pre-installed". This box was to be used for my network management system. I've since found a better NMS and it's Windows based. I have another use for the V245 but want to go back to ground 0, fully unconfigured with nothing but...

    HP OV Alternative

About 4000 nodes, most of which I don't care about. I discover PC's but place them on the map unmanaged, IP phones similar. My main requirement is to have a map showing each of my remote offices (about 50) and the state of their router and core switches. My network operations staff isn't really...

    HP OV Alternative

Probably not the best place to ask this, but... My management is balking at the costs of the HPOV system. We primarily use it to provide operations with a tool to keep an eye on what's going on with the network. Yes, it works fine but my licensing costs are going over 30K this year and that's...
