d'oh -rereading the first post it makes half sense to me now, too sorry for the confusion.
the solution was to uninstall the FW client, reinstall and then apply all patches and go to 7.0.1
some users are complaining about two SSL web sites hanging up. they have to close the browser down, then reopen. I have adjusted the outbound SSL to be available to all ports as per the KB article at symantec.
is there anything else I can do?
thanks
thanks, interesting options. I'm leaning towards using two 48 port switches and having the unmanaged 10/100 18 port hub take care of the low traffic workstations.
what do you think about the 3com superstack 4300 switch? part # 3c17100
We need to replace two 24 port hubs in the main building and two 24 ports hubs in the other. And use a present 18 port 10/100Mbps dumb hub. Between the buildings there is an unused 234 ft CAT 5 run and a functional 2 strand multi-mode fiber with ST connectors. I'd like to use both.

uummm?? reviewing options, I see that the pc in question is an upgrade from NT. I can take the Win2k upgrade disk and run a repair that should take it back to SP1.
it was the end user that did the upgrade. and no he didn't archive the previous version for rollback. I had him locked down. But a couple of requirements with him on the road forced me to allow him to make some changes. so much for trusting an end user. and yes, he'll get locked down again...
I need to roll back to Win2K SP2 and the BDE didn't archive the ability to do so. uninstalling IE6 SP1 didn't do the trick either.
has anybody ran across instructions for a manual rolling back to SP2?
thanks
depending on the type of VPN software you are running. check the MS patch differences between your two systems. one of the patches may be causing the problem. the laptop I had problems with was set to autoupgrade windows patches. it finally upgraded a patch that wasn't compatible with the VPN...
Outlook is the mail client. Excel routing slip/recipient association to Outlook Express is problem.
a BDE has some how told Excel to use Outlook Express to route the spreadsheets to other users instead of Outlook. I can't seem to find the answer on how to stop this so we can get him to route...
he's under the false impression that wireless is his "fix" for his connection problems. it's just another connection method and he'll run into similar connectivity problems. areas that are not covered, etc. He'll still need his regular modem card.
if they want to waste the money after...
