new hardware Upgrade to 2003 from 2000... all is well...now what?

Was the Exch2k box the "1st Exchange server" in the domain? If so, you need to move a few services over to the new exchange box (offline address book, RUS, public folders, etc). check this link out: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307917 good luck, rich

    Mail Problems

do you have a firewall between the two exchange servers? you might need to turn off statefull smtp inspection...try "telnet [servername] 25" from both directions, do you get a clean esmtp response? good luck, rich

Trying to create a Distribution list need some answers.

The key here is "mail enabling" any of the types of groups you mentioned. Check out this link on the differences...ultimately, you can mail enable most groups to a mail distribution list...

PIX 501 to Cisco 3000 series VPNC Active Directory replication

For active directory, all member servers that you want to run DHCP have to be authorized to the AD. Note, you need to be logged in as an Enterprise Admin to authorize. Check this link out...

Ideas for upgrading E2K to E2K3

I humbly suggest you get new hardware and do a concurrent upgrade. I am just now finishing the last of 6 Exchange servers from 2k to 2k3 (all in different sites). My first attempts of doing an in place upgrade went okay, but there were a few messy leftovers especially the virtual servers under...

Exchange 2003 SP1 OWA Login Issue

check your vitual server settings from ESM...make sure the default domains are configured at each level of the http virtual servers. If you are getting denied errors, try removing the "integrated authentication" option and use basic authentication. You may need to restart WWW on the front-end...

Demoting a Domain Controller that is an Exchange 2k server

I inherited a situation where there is an Exchange 2000 server which is also a Domain Controller. I would like to demote this server via dcpromo. Are there any huge risks in doing this? A few notes about the env...I've got 6 domain controllers (including the exchange box) and 5 Exchange 2k...

    moving disks into different slots

This seems like a silly question...but... I've got a production ML370 G3 with the 6x1 cage and the 2x1 cage. I've got the OS mirrored on the 2x1 and 3 disks on raid5 on the 6x1. Is it possible to move the mirrored disk into the 6x1 cage and not miss a beat? Needless to say, there will be a...

    proliant 3000 no post

I highly suggest re-seating the Processor. Typically, if the processor is not firmly seated...then the server won't boot. I've seen this many times. rich

    external mails?

Migrating Customer Rrecipients on Exchange 2000

You need to configure a Connection Agreement (CA) on your Active Directory Connector (which should have been a prereq for Exchange 2k). Typically, you do this for each container in 5.5. The CA replicates data from 5.5 to AD/E2k until you run in native mode. Rich

Event ID 7031 In Exchange 2000 Server

Haven't seen this problem..but there's a post SP3 hot fix for E2k (I think MS is calling it SP3.5). Might want to give that a try. Rich

AD migration - Native vs Mixed

Can someone give me some tips on when the best time is to switch over to native mode on AD? We currently have AD running in mixed mode with a trust to one NT domain. We just finished migrating our users from Exchange 5.5 over to Exchange 2000. Without sounding too stupid, can someone help...
