Is the cable OK?. Try to install other protocols to see if cable is working. If so, Does any ligth appear is the hub?.
Try ping localhost (127.0.0.1), but you don't have to use DNS for 2 computers!!!. Just update the hosts file. I don't think that you may use lmhosts file in that enviroment...
Is there any communication problems between the node and the Mgmt Server??. Have you tried to install it locally with the Agente package??. Does the node resolve the Mgmt Server FQDN correctly??. Is there a firewall in the middle??

Creat a Template Admin User. They can do everything opc_adm can do with templates except assign them. You can also use the reports to see the templates asigned to each node.

Sorry, You must also find if ther is any map.lock file in the users foldres (find /var/opt/OV -name opc_adm and then find a current folder for that user).
It is very easy. Just remove the opc_adm entry in the opc_op_runtime table in then ITO Database (take a look at the DataBase Schema). It is a simple select/delete query.

try to mount the CDROM using
mount -r -o cdcase /dev/what_ever /what_ever
The o option with cdcase will work and must show you the names in it's real form (I had the same problem and this answer was the simpliest solution).
