When booting into XP, everything else loads up fast and no problem. The network connection takes about 1 minute or so to finally load up all of the sudden. (I try to launch pppoe connection when everything is finished loading and it takes about a minute or two to load up, then the dailog box...
1. Can you mix ECC ram with non ecc ram?
2. Is the easiest way to tell what speed your ram is, is by the processor speed? i.e. if its 50 base number (450mhz etc) its pc100, and vice versa for pc 133 ram?
it was the NIC driver, had to manually remove the ghost driver...Guess I should stop assuming when I physically rip out the device its actually out of the system :P

lol it was a keyboard problem. . . i noticed it when i used the keyboard on my other 2 computers and they halted(WITH ERROR MESSESGES), the compaq didn't give out any error codes or beeps so i just spend hours trouble shooting memory, pci cards etc. . .oh well lesson learned.
