Chinese display is built into the Mac OS, even from the day of Mac OS 9 (Classic). However, there are different ways to encode the Chinese characters, and what you experienced is probably done in a format not supported by Mac OS X. It may be a problem with incompatible fonts, too.
I have a...
Four years later, I now know about NLIST - the poor man's equivalent of BindView. Given the proper context, NLIST can provide almost everything there is to know about an NDS user. One catch with NLIST is that its output is not one line per user, but rather columnar format. I had to write a...
In Notes 4, go to File/Tools/User Preferences. Under the Advanced Options section, number 5 from the bottom up is "Keep all windows within main Notes window (MDI)". Uncheck this option and all the Notes window on your Notes 4 user will be contained within Notes instead of lying all...
I sorta solved the problem by doing a search for all files with the word "Palm" in them and delete them if they appear to be related to the Palm desktop software. Re-load the data from another Mac and even re-install CJKOS afterward - no problem so far, everything back to normal.
I am getting Address Book failed #-1 error when I try to sync my Visor
Deluxe with an iMac running Jaguar 10.2.3, Palm Desktop 4.0, & HotSync
Manager 3.0.0. I've already tried reinstalling the Palm Desktop, hard
reset the Visor, replace the User Data file, but nothing works - I
just can't sync...
chr1s,
I think my fix should work for any system running Citrix and Notes clients, regardless which platform Notes run on. It's really a Notes setup issue so I even think it doesn't matter if it's Citrix or anything else that serves as the terminal server. Give it a shot, I would love to know...
My Citrix admin has identified the problem and has a workaround for it!
The problem is that in notes.ini, the cache variable is set to c:\temp\cache.dsk. This is fine as long as users are in the office and write to their own c: drive. However, when they connect to the office network via...

How about creating a calculated field that is a concatenation of all 42 fields and then search in that one calculated field. The search won't tell you which of the 42 fields hold the match but if you have a layout that shows all 42 fields then you can eyeball the fields. FYI, concatenation is...

Rebuild desktop? Good idea! Did that and the first burn I made since then was OK. It still takes a few inserts and ejects of the newly burnt CDRW media to be recognized but it was read at last. Only one burn so far so I can't be sure if desktop rebuild is the answer. Will post update if...
I have a Wall Street PowerBook 266 running OS 9.2/X.1, Toast 5 Tn, OrangeMicro's OrangeLink PCCard-to-FireWire adapter, and the QPS Que!Fire external FireWire CDRW drive. Two problems I have with CDRW made with this setup is that the finished CDRW is normally not visible to the OS. I usually...
I am having many instances of users getting prompted to setup the Notes client as if it's the first time they run the client. It seems to be caused by NetWare Applications Launcher failing to process notes.ini. The error message is along the line "Unable to configure workstation, error...
I am having many instances of users getting prompted to setup the Notes client as if it's the first time they run the client. A quick-fix I have is to add the line Setup=60, usually below the MailFile line, into notes.ini. I would then only go through a shortened version of the setup process...
