Question about Solaris 10 releases (Updates)

Answering my own question. Had looked for answers on other forum earlier ... then realized I should have searched on /etc/release. When I did that I found my answer. For future questions on this subject here are snippets from various Solaris forum responses to questions about /etc/release...

Question about Solaris 10 releases (Updates)

We are running Solaris 10 Update 1 on multiple servers. We have maintained patches on these servers as they were released. A vendor is telling us that their software will not run on our servers unless we are running Solaris 10 Update 3. It's our contention that since we're patched up we have all...

    routeadm

Long story on the reason. The short version : e-mail routing through network 143 to network 205 will be turned off soon. We'll need to route it through the nic on network 10 to network 205 ... but the 143 will continue to exist.

    routeadm

The NICs are on different subnets. I received a reply to this question from a similar post on forums.sun.com that read as follows: Got the following reply: Solaris does not support source routing. http://blogs.sun.com/carlson/entry/packets_out_of_the_wrong...

    routeadm

We have a Solaris server with 2 NICs. Incoming traffic may originate from either NIC A or NIC B. We would like to force all outbound traffic through NIC B. Is there a Solaris solution? Routeadm? Thanks!

    sendmail forwarding question

We've never used mailertable before. Is this really the best option? So are you suggesting something like this in mailertable: y.a.b.c smtp:[y.a.b.c] ?

    sendmail forwarding question

We have a local mail server with mail forwarding set up in sendmail.cf (sendmail version 8.13.7+Sun) to send e-mail out of our local network (intranet) to a set of mail servers on the internet. The problem with this is that ALL LOCAL e-mail is also going to the internet mail servers instead of...

    Upgrade 8.1 sp 3 to 8.1 sp 6 : need assistance

On a test / dev platform we used platform816_upgrade_solaris32.bin as provided by BEA to perform an upgrade from weblogic 8.1 sp3 to 8.1 sp6. The upgrade was successful. On an identical server (production)we attempted to follow the same steps with the same upgrade executable and it failed. Very...

Need to determine the jdbc driver version in use with weblogic 8.1 sp3

Thanks Dian. Here's what I see in startWebLogic.sh: CLASSPATH="${WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH}:${POINTBASE_CLASSPATH}:${JAVA_HOME}/jre/lib/rt.jar:${WL_HOME}/server/lib/web services.jar:${CLASSPATH}" I'm sort of a newbie. Are you suggesting I look at the manifest for webservices.jar. If so, how is that...

    SAN Reading Material

    I agree with comtec17. I especially liked SANS and NAS - O'reily.
