perpetualproblem's soultion will help you delete the current database, but will not prevent it reoccuring. It seems that ARCserve is trying to do something (access the database) and cannot do it, therefore it keeps on writing.
I would recommend you un-install and re-install ARCserve (if that is...
I tried as you said, to run it from the folder where the db is, and this is the result:
D:\apps\ARCSERVEIT\DATABASE>dbdefrag asjob
The name specified is not recognized as an
internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I tried to run it from the folder where the commands are...
How does this look?
D:\apps\ARCSERVEIT>dbdefrag -L arcserve;admin;secret ASOBJECT
No database elements have been specified: nothing to compress.
D:\apps\ARCSERVEIT>dbdefrag -L arcserve;admin;secret astpsdat
No database elements have been specified: nothing to compress.
Still cannot get it to work
BEEN THERE - DONE THAT :-(
When I run:
dbdefrag -L arcserve;admin;secret astape
or
dbdefrag -L arcserve;admin;secret asmedia
I get the following error:
No database elements have been specified: nothing to compress.
I understand, that I can delete the media manually, but when you consider the fact that I have to do this on 300 servers, this would be iompossible.
What I need is one of the ARCserve command-line utilities that I can schedule to run on a regular basis. I have tried some of them but they don't...
I'm running ARCserveIt 6.61 EE SP1 on about 300 servers using a 7 tape library (ADIC vls DLT 400). I am encountering a problem on about half of them, after I reboot a server, ArcServe will get the wrong version of the tape and therefore backups will fail.(ex. when going into device management...
I see this all the time. ARCserve has a tendency to "forget" which tape is in what slot or which version of the tapes it has. Do an inventory of all tapes, and it should solve your problem. If this doesn't work, try merging the tape, (Manager\Utilites\Merge) then do the restore.
I am using arcserve 6.61 on 350+ servers and the database is giving me lots of headaches. I am hesitant to use SP1 cuz I was told it will make the DB 4 times the size. does anybody know if this is factual?
I manage some 300 servers each with it's own ADIC DLT tape library w/ 7 slots.
It is set up like this 5 daily full backups. 5 tapes are in GROUP0, the other 2 in GROUP1. the schedule points to GROUP0 for the tapes. Most of the time it will work, but sometimes it will fail saying media is not in...
I'm having a similar problem, my retension is set to 6 days but the tape does not always go to the scratch set, could you please give me some insight how and when arcserve takes the tapes from the save set to the scratch set?
I am running Arcserve 6.61 EE using NT 4 on ADIC VLS DLT 400 w/ seven slots.
we are doing this on 300+ locations.
Very frequently it will fail saying the media is not in scratch set. Upon checking the scratch set it is there. If I quick erase the media, it will work but sometimes out of the...
