    Garry I let it go but it looks like it executes and them goes back to the prompt. Its been sitting for about 30 minutes back at the command prompt. I have it in a cmd screen on XP. that shouldnt make any difference, i think?

    garry Thanks for that, although one question, who does the checksum file output is data? I ran the command line c:\checksum.exe shrike-i386-disc2.iso and it went for about a second and produced nothing. any thoughts? Steve

    Garry Thats a shame, i wonder why they corrupted. I also d/l iso 2 from the ftp.redhat.com and found that to be corrupted as well. How did you do a checksum before burning? Steve

    Has anyone having problems with iso 2 of redhat 9. I have downloaded it abou 4 times from different locations. After burning it onto cd it will fail the cd test and not install. Help! Steve

    I've been doing some more home work, correct me if i'm wrong 16 bit chips run at the 1.5volt mark, where 18 bit chips run at 3.3 volts. That could be why the PC wont boot and gives me the beep error tone. Steve

    My dimm slots must be dead then, the server gives me a beep code error of 1 beep 3 beeps 3beeps 1 beep. Then the HDD will spin up. No video will appear. Any thoughts The server is a Dell Poweredge 2100/200 Steve

    I know MySQL and PHP run smoother on a linux platform, but does MS Windows drag the performance down? I know a little about Linux, setup mainly. Anyone suggest some interesting reading?

    Yep I have done all of the above, i really think it is a protocol issue and have done some reading on the NTLM protocol which 95/98/NT4 uses to authenticate to a 2k dc. Thanks for all your help If you have any other ideas please suggest them Cheers

    Servers event viewer shows nothing, .pwl have been deleted because i thought that was the problem. I've tried about 10 user accounts but none work on th98 machine. All those accounts work on NT/2000 though. Are you starting to scratch your head yet?
