Thanks for all your suggestions/ideas.
Speshalyst, I've tried a mock scene at head office but unfortunately I cannot (Use host name resolution). I have to be using TCP/IP Address. Can you help out? And will there be a big difference advantage in using Host name rather than TCP/IP Address?
Cheers
Here's the structure.
A. Head Office running Windows 2000 in a Domain "Blue". Arcserve 2000 SP4 Advanced Edition installed on File Print Server with 2 Tape Devices attached not the same make and Model Backing up 3 Servers (Exchange Client and SQL Client installed on two Servers other...
I don't think it's the SP. Look at the Options for the Job. There is a possibility that you have selected the Media rather than the Tape Device in the Destination Tab. If you select the Tape Device the job will run with whatever Media is in the Tape Device, however, if you select a specific...
Please look at the end of your job in the Activity log and you will see something like this:20020824 000214 107 ** Summary for Job **
19 Sessions.
9,247 Directories 114,532 Files (30,706.36 MB) Backed Up to Media.
9 Databases/Transaction Logs (3,884.10 MB) Backed Up to Media.

To fix this go to the Arcserve Directory then 00000001.qsd Folder. Look in this folder for the *.JOB file relating to the back-up jobs running twice daily eg: 00000001.JOB or 00000002.JOB and then delete the one required. Stop and start all ARCServe Engines, open ARCServe Manager and you will...
I'm having the same Error too. Looks like loose connection. This error seems to intermittent. What I did was to check the cable going from Server to Tape Device and I haven't received the Error so far.
See if this works for you.

I've gone about running the Dbcheck Utility from the Command prompt and received the following :
Failed to log into server'arcserve;admin:secret',username'admin':error -2005
I am using the correct username and password and the ARCServe Database engine and service is running (I even stopped and...
Just to let you know that normally you don't need a password for the sa login. This is a generic username for SQL it means system administrator. try doing the backup again and right click on the sql database select security, type in sa for username and donot put in any password. Tell me how you...
My suggestion to you is to Stop all AS Engines Rename your Database to old, create a new Database. Start all the AS Engines and manually create a new backup job. If this works it will then suggest that your Database is definitely corrupt......
Please let me know the outcome.

The reason why you cannot see the cannot see the Exchange database is because you need to put enter the Security details for the agent. This is the Account you opted to use whilst installing the MS Database Agent on the Exchange Server. Get back if you are not getting nowhere.

Deleting R files is not going to affect anything. These R files in the database folder indicated your database has a problem
