I have memory_target and memory_max_target set to 6GB, pga_aggregate_target and sga_target set to 0. My sga_max_size is set to 6GB. I'm thinking this was left over from the 10g days. By leaving sga_max_size set to 6G does that leave memory management set to manual and not use AMM?

We're going to be updating a materialized view using a materialized view log. My question is what do you create first? The materialized view log? or the materialized view?

I am attempting to recover an oracle database from a hot backup on one server to a different server. It restores ok. But when I get to the recovery I get this error after I try to ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS; Does anyone have a suggestion for me to try.

We recently install an iSeries 520. We also recently experienced a power failure lasting longer than our ups could sustain. I've searched the IBM knowledgebase in vain. Does anyone know how and where to set the values to automatically shut down the partitions during a power failure?

I know you can get a list of public authorities using prtpubaut. Is there a way to query objects authorities? Say to see what objects have public autority fo *change or user xxxxxx with *use.
