    did you add a rom if you did check and make sure one is pined master and one is pined slave

    are you useing this hard drive as a dual boot to win 98 or are you useing as just extra disk space if so you must set the 98 hdd as slave and when you can see it as a drive letter on your machine remove win 98 manualy

    1gig should be 8 gig.

    you could try fdisk /mbr then do a regular fdisk if this does not work if you can get a copy of disk manager it will force the drive into seeing the 8 gigs

    DID YOU CHECK FDISK CHECK PARTISTIONS TO SEE IF YOU ARE RUNNING AT 100% YOU MAY NOT HAVE SET THE PARTITION ACTIVE
