Gracias por la nota! Instarlare otra vez el JAVA, y es un exito. (No tengo problemas adicionales.) Me parece que no puedo reemplazar el JAVA con el JVM, pero lo tolero. Gracias y tienes una buena dia (Mi hija Katherine escribio la traduccion.)
Yeah.
I noticed he has Office 2000 in the list, for example. First place, Office 97 was contemporaneous with 366 cpu's, and 2000 expects more cpu. Second place, Office starts a number of .exe's that are supposed to make the program marginally faster, but hog a lot of a pc's capacity.
And if...
I have a very similar machine and recognize the symptoms.
Your pc is overloaded and trying hard to do something you don't have the RAM/resources/cpu, whatever to accomplish.
Kill some stuff you have running, even if a program makes computer use more convenient. All you really need is explorer...
I'm running win98se.
Looked for both the files that you named and couldn't find them on this pc. Makes me think this has to do with an application you put on your pc.
If you can, look under msconfig (Start/Run) to see if win.ini or your Startup list gives you any clues.
Hope this helps, or at...
Well, I could go back to an older version of IE according to the menu you get when you try to 'remove' IE 6, as you know. Problem is, if something goes wrong, even though I have the Windows Update Setup folder on my c: drive, I know that it won't let me install anything because of the...
Used the Repair function in Add/Remove programs.
I was trying to install IE 6 over IE 6 as part of my attempt to fix the java problem posted elsewhere on this board. (I removed the Sun Java plug-in 1.4 and IE 6.0 wouldn't recognize the presence of Microsoft's JVM no matter how often I installed...
Tried to install IE 6 on 98se and got a message saying there was a prior incomplete installation and setup wouldn't run until I had rebooted. I hadn't added anything for a while, but I rebooted anyway and nothing changed; same incomplete install message.
When this happened on IE 5.5 a year ago...
Because I didn't use it much, I decided to remove Sun's Java 1.4 plug-in and replace it with Microsoft's Virtual Machine. I downloaded and installed the JVM, but on the one site with Java that I use regularly it wouldn't work. Instead, I get a message saying that I have to download and install...
If, like me, you don't want to work directly with the registry, then download AdAware 5.7 and the update program. I'm told it removes Gator.
I've had Gator attached to a number of programs I've downloaded, but each time it has given me a flash screen in which I can uncheck a box to prevent it...
You probably need to keep systray in addition to explorer if you're going to turn off everything nonessential.
Starting in safe mode does prevent most everything from activating without having to go back and turn programs on again in config, so that is easiest. But sometimes F8 doesn't work and...
This is so minor it may not be worth mentioning. Still, I was reading through the threads and at least 3 times someone said to delete a system file or an app. file. Wouldn't it be better to zip the file and save it for a while, giving the zip a title that refers to the name of the file and...
Final Update.
The new theme that fixed the systray icons was causing the problems mentioned.
Used Display/Settings/Advanced/General to change from Large Fonts to Small Fonts. (The theme had changed the setting from Small to Large.)
Now the text I'm typing is the right size. And so are the...
Thanks!
I'd bumped into a similar solution after posting: installing a new theme reduced the size of the icons, but left the taskbar enlarged. I reduced the taskbar size to match, so ok, except...
Maybe the theme that messed up the icons had a very large font associated, and the icons size...
