I need some help here. I am currently running Windows XP with Office 2000 Pro. All of my Office programs run with no problems except Word. When I load word it brings up the Word 2000 Splash and locks there. Sometimes it comes up with a Memory Error but then it locks with the blue screen of...
Greetings,
we are using a VPN to a sister corporation (addrs 10.190.x.x). That seems to work very well. However, since we configured the route, we are unable to access the internet using the website name. If we access a website by it's ipaddress, it will load the partial page. I know that...
Hi Peter,
thanks once again for your assistance. I have another question. In the in-addr.arpa file, some entries made via DNS manager gui show these entries:
100.12.155 PTR hio0012.router.cccd.com.
PTR h00012-router.cccd.com.
110.12.155 PTR...
Hi, I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth...
I had a server nic that would drop off the network under heavy load (mostly during remote backups). When I checked the MS Hardware compatibility list, I found it was a problem with the nic model. I changed out the nic, and the server hasn't...
Peter,
thank you for the info. I'll give it a try, but I do have concern about the reverse lookup records. I assume it will be necessary to update the in-addr.arpa file with the new reverse entries, too. Is that correct?
Regards,
Pam
Hi butchrecon,
thanks for responding.
I was referring to the hosts file on the Unix systems.
I compared the hosts files on the NT systems, and they are basically the same as each other (NT/NT). That is to say: the NT system that prints ok has a hosts file very similar to the one that...
When I lpr from NT4 (Server A) to a Unix system (running lpd), Server A errors "print server did not accept request. Job Aborted".
Server B (NT4) lpr to the same Unix system prints ok. The hosts and hosts.lpd file contain both Server A & Server B records.
I need to be able to lpr...

Win NT 4.0 -
DNS is already installed and running, however I need to add a bunch of records to the existing DNS. Do you know of a way to add a bunch of records without having to key individual hosts in DNS Manager? (concatenation of a flat file to the DNS). Thanks.
I had a similar problem. Try: tools - options - media overwrite tab. Ensure the "Cartridge type" is correct for the dlt drive. Then you may need to manually label the tape. Hope that helps.
Hello, [also posted in NT4.0 Server Forum]

Have you solved the problem? I have a user with a similar problem (the detail view is blank, but the "list" view is ok), and would benefit from any solution you can provide. The best I can do is recommend reloading Win95.
