Does anyone know how to connect an Apple Laserwriter IIg and an HP JetDirect 300x? They both have rs-232 (25 pin Dsub) connectors on the back, but they don't talk to each other. Apple says to swap pins 2 & 3, RxD & TxD, but that did not help. From what I've gathered, I think the laserwriter is...
Is this on a new installation of your OS? Have you been using this installation for awhile? Have you tried defragging the HD?
It sounds like either a corrupted FAT or a completely fragmented drive.
Did you get a details button on the page fault error window? If you did and you...
Did you do a complete install of IE 5 for the Win2k installation? I know NT 4 requires you to install the appplications for each OS you are running. if you are just launching the IE5 exe file from the Win98 installation, it may not be grabbing the DNS info from the DNS server.
Have you tried defragging the drive? Or tried copying the contents to another drive, re-creating the partition and copying the files back? Maybe with the uninstall and re-install of Visual Studio the FAT got corrupted and thinks the old files are still on the drive.
I'll give it a try on Monday. Just got back from blowing up a router. Wan team decided to try out new firmware. Dirty rotten Wan team.
Just asking. Does Win98 allow you to boot to a command prompt only by pressing the F8 key before after the hardware check on bootup? My assumption is that it does since Win98 is Win95 vr D. As long as he has Fat16 on the drive, or at least a partition that is fat16, he should be able to use the...
It only seems to happen through Explorer. I can open the document fine from Word. I should also mention that I just tried opening the same document from the Start Documents folder and had the same problem. It doesn't seem to matter if the document is local or on the network either.
I have a problem with MS Word from Office 97 SP1. It doesn't like having files with spaces in the filename. Let's say the filename is "this is the doc.doc". When you double click on the file, it says Word cannot open the file "this.doc". You can click on the OK button, and it...
You have gone beyond what I know about. I am just a lowly LAN admin, with not too many years under my belt.
Is this server side cursor something the vendor can work on, or is it something I need to do to the server?
Any Tech Net articles on this?
Thanks
I forgot to add that using the local phone book only opens over 128+ WAN link. I get an error when I try over 56k link. I don't remember what the exact wording was, but when I did a search at MS Tech Net I got a bunch of VB hits from the index query.
Thanks
Yes there is a database running on the NT WS over the WAN. This is the master phonebook file. There is also a smaller version of the file with a different name that runs locally. The app is a paging system, where the server does all the work and the clients attach to it via tcp/ip. Most clients...
Have a paging app that runs fine as long as the link is over 128k. Have about five locations using 56k. Get error message when try to run the app over 56k. Vendor thinks it's a time out issue, but has no idea if can increase timeout for dcom. There is a client portion and a server portion...
