Okay ....... I've gone into "My Computer", right clicked the C Drive, selected properties and it confirms 18gb drive with 17gb used up. My issue now is with 17gb used up ...... I don't have a huge amount of software on board and I'm struggling to find evidence to back up 17gb used ...

I ran FDISK and it confirmed it was an 18gb drive ..... so what do I do now ?!!! The disk space utility is accessible from START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/SYSTEM TOOLS ...... I think !

I ran scandisk which confirmed an 18gb drive, I then defragged for several hours (!) but, although more space is now available, the Drive Space tool is still reporting a 2gb capacity ! I'm running Win 98SE and I've had no problems before with the hard drive !

Forgot to mention ...... it's a Microsoft mouse and it is clean as in the rollers are clean. I also use a mousemat. I re-installed the driver for it just in case but I haven't attempted to update the driver. Surely an out of date driver wouldn't have suddenly caused it to go nuts ..... would it...
