If you don't have IBM support anymore, and you want to save money on an IBM guy changing ur mainboard for a huge amound of $$$, you might try to replace the defect caps (your mainboar is defect anyways, so why not give it a try), located above the CPU. We checked if the caps where parallel, and they where, so in that case those three 560uF caps are the equivilent of one single 1680uF cap. The closest we had to the total of 1680uF was two caps of 1000uF. It's a lot cheaper then replacing a mainboard, when you don't have support anymore :-)...- Patrickske

. NOTE ON PREVIOUS MESSAGE!!! I made a mistake, it's not 560mF / 25V but 560uF / 25V. I replaced them with 2 caps of 1000uF / 35V. Good luck, Patrick- Patrickske

We had the same problem here. Also a 176 The system has been tampered with. Turn power to your system off and then on Your system is now locked. message. We tried to reset the CMOS, whitch had no effect. We looked at the 3 capacitors above the CPU unit, and they where bulging indeed. We...- Patrickske
