Question came up at my company about using an external POP3 hosted email solution rather than a local mail server. I don't care for the idea myself - but am I just being big headed? hehe
Why would I not want to go with POP3?
I don't like the idea of attachments traveling out to the web and...
Having a bit of a problem with one particular Exchange server at my organization and getting Outlook to work.
Have 2 e-mail servers at the location I am using the VPN to get to - I can map drives, remote in, ping hosts, etc. just about anything I need to.
When my exchange mailbox is on...
How do I go about changing the IP address for the Merlin Messaging 2.5 system?
The System Administration utility has a field for "WCS IP" I've changed that to what I want the IP to be, but the changes don't seem to be taking effect. Do I have to reboot the swtich in order to get this working...
ok - thanks, I think that verifies what my ISP told me too. My primary objective here is to just set up a secondary internet link to failover to - even a manual failover will work out well enough.
The problem comes up when remote mail servers attempt a reverse DNS lookup - a lot of mail will...
Just an update to answer my question after the fact....
I found only one place where any server was marked as the "master".
In the routing container - one of the servers seems to be marked as the routing 'master'.
Otherwise, just getting DNS set up and double checking all the SMTP settings...
Did you try a different name, just to see if it could join?
I've ran into a similiar issue - almost the same. Find the computer account in active directory - and delete it. It should create a new one when you attempt to join the domain again.
Well - the server doesn't seem to reply to incoming requests on the DSL connection, unless the routing is changed.
The exchange services are running just fine on the server - you can telnet into port 25 from the T1's IP address just fine - you can telnet into the DSL connection *if* the...
Well - the IP on the "outside" is different for the DSL and the T1 services.
I don't really have any control over that - the services are through different companies, so no real control there. In otherwords - not much I can do with two different outside IP's. I see what you are saying about...
Open Regedit - go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\W32Time\Parameters
In here, you should fine the Win2K NTP settings. If you want a list of servers on the web - do a google search for "public NTP" servers.
Anyway - you should have a String value called "ntpserver" - put...
Have a problem I'm trying to get past without buying anymore expensive hardware - thought maybe I could find some ideas here.
Here's my question:
I have a Win2K server that's running exchange. We have 2 seperate internet connections - one is a full T1 and the other is a regular DSL...
No - even after I pick up a call, all I can get the display to show it the Vmail port and if I scroll to the right, it will show the trunk as well.
Display does not change at any point.
Any ideas on what settings(s) may be causing that?
Just recently upgraded our T1 service to include PRI.
We have 2 phone switches. Each has a fractional T1 going into a 100DCD card for outside service. They also have a second 100DCD card that's connected to a full Point-to-Point T1 for interoffice calls/transfers.
The PRI works great on any...
I am currently attempting to put another Exchange 2000 server in our organization.
Currently, we have 2 exchange servers running - let's call them Server1, Server2, and Server3
All three servers are up and running just fine. Transmitting mail, etc..
The issue I have is that I want to take...
ok - just scratch that, I seen Merlinman's post in the "Magix Point -Point locks up 3X a day." thread.
I didn't read that right - I'm guessing in his situation, the provider is setting up PRI on that PtP or whatever...
Our PtP is just a straight pipe - but yeah, I understand the Merlin...
