Multiple ARCserve2000 SP4 + hotfixes
Reinitialise database every 10 days or so due to corruption.
Many brick backups fail with RPC failure - RPC restart cures.
However, I have noticed the following~:
HKLM\Software\ComputerAssociates\ARCserveIT\DSAgent\CurrentVersion\agent\dbaxchg2\Es...
I managed to find the KB article at http://www.robertmoir.co.uk/win/ShadowCopiesFAQ.html
To cut a long story short, if you have your information store on your operating system volume you are going to have to either move the information store onto another volume or set up two backup jobs so that...
Try erasing the tape and then formatting it.
You should be able to do this while the job is still running. (Sometime the tape is 'expired' and reformatting it gives you the chance to set an new expiry date)
In my experience the post SP4 hotfix for this issue made no difference.
We get lots of...
Thanks for the posts.
Corruption of the Information Store has been identified by ESEUTIL /G.
Fortunately we do have a copy of the database prior to running ESEUTIL /D for the defrag.
Not sure about the wisdom of running 10 days of transaction logs though!
I think the lesson here is to check the...

Thanks Speshalyst.
We haven't had any 'failed to create profile' errors.

Hi, I am currently evaluating BackupExec9.0 with Exchange option.
I have performed a successful FULL backup of exchange but coming from ARCserve I am confused by the overall architecture of BE.
The Exchange Agent has been installed on the 'media server' aka backup server - the remote agent...
Thanks for that.
We do have separate device configuration groups with specific tapes allocated to the different jobs (Exchange/Data)- but have not specifically allocated each tape device to certain groups - unfortunately the monday job is still running at the moment but I should be able to check...
Hi there,
We have a friday/weekly backup of about half a terabyte running onto 5 tapes.
The Data and Exchange (IS 85GB & Brick 45GB) are split into two separate jobs (with 2 associated device groups - 3tapes for data/2 for exchange)
The trouble is the Brick level backup alone takes upto 21...

Apparently ARCserve doesn't like not having to create the pathname...manually creating new path G:Ms Exchange DB\First Storage Group\Heavy Users Mailbox Store\ still didn't work however, copying a broken db from the recycle bin did allow the restore to complete however (though still issues with...
