Hello,
may I ask if you managed to flash your 427 with a new firmware?
According the the 3COM site, the 427 is _not_ software-upgradable!?
If it is possible to upgrade the 427 to the newest 11.4 firmware, is somebody willing to tell me how to do so?
... I'm stunned, as I have not found any...
Hi Engleberth,
gotta apologize, but what do you mean with no "straight pin-out"?
As I've written (and referred to), there is some sort level-shifter, e.g. a MAX232 (converting from TTL to RS232) involved -- does this hold true?

Thanks Dacurve,
any information is welcome - the fact that even on the newer printers the service cable is identical is yet another detail in the "finding the phaser pinout"-quest :-)

Hello,
a couple of weeks ago I've opened a thread about the piniout of this cable here in this forum, see
thread723-676993 function of the cable is clear (see my recent posting) and I'm willing to draw and post a schematic here -- if someone could just post the assignment of the five pins on...
Dacurve,
thanks a lot, still one person left that might possibly know the answer - hoping that johnny55 will post the pinout within the next few days.
In case I find anything out I'll post the results here,
oscar
Hello world,
still looking for the pinout for the service cable to hook up the Phaser 350 to a Mac or a PC.
It would be very nice from anyone to post the wiring scheme of the cable or just the pinout of the five pins on back of the printer.

Terry,
the error 6,002.43 means an unexpected x-asis home sensor activation. This might mean that the x-axis sensor is broken or the motor control is moving the printhead in the wrong direction.
The x-axis drive assembly is located on the right side, wheras the x-axis sensor is plugged onto...
Hello Dacurve,
thanks for the Xerox part number. Before I'm going to spend big bucks (more than a hundred dollars just for the "level shifter" adapter or cable) I'd like to know if I can get along with making a cable of my own.
It would be nice if you can post the pinout of the...
just checked for the error message once more: error code 7,004.46 means "No transitions are observed of the drum maintenance cam sensor. The sensor may be bad or the drum maintenance cam may be jammed", so go ahead with Dany's tips.
Thought the sensor is on the same side?
oscar
Hi Dany1,
thanks for your reply - yep, I ment the service cable ... which is not the one that fits into the mini-DIN8 but
into the flat plug on the rear of the printer. Sorry for my mistake in the original first posting.
From what I can recall the plug has five pins, all of them having TTL...
hmmmm, errors starting with 7,00x have to do with the process motor. Try checking the drum maintenance cam sensor, see if it is working properly or clogged.

Hello,
one more question on the Tektronix (Phaser 350): the very first test print after turning on the printer _always_ has a wide vertical white bar, seems that there is nothing printed. After doing a small cleaning cycle the printer prints a nice test print, except for some spots...
