Greetings. I'm unburying this question from the 8570/8870 ink discussion thread ...
I have an 8570 printer and just purchased an ink loader for the 8870. An 8870 configuration card is also on its way. These are the only two parts in the service manual that differ between the two printer...
The ink loader arrived but the vendor shipped the wrong configuration card. Needless to say, this combo did not work.
A quick bump while e wait for the replacement configuration card ... has anyone else tried this 8570 to 8870 conversion?
I am planning on resetting the NVRAM back to factory...
The market price for 8570 starter kit ink is climbing, probably due to the various work arounds (the paper strip override I described at the end of this thread, remolded ink, and the electronics override kit) that are now available.
I just bought an 8870 ink loader to put into my 8570 printer...
Looking further into the 8570 to 8870 "upgrade" that Brossard suggested. Here are a few links:
The 8570/8870 Xerox Service Manual
* Page 198 is the ink loader removal instructions (looks fairly easy to do) (815K13130 is 8870)
* Page 302 is the part number list showing 8570/8870 interchange...
Hello there - this comment is about long term use of starter ink in the 8570, not substituting 8870 ink ...
I found out a better way to use starter ink in the 8570 after it hits the maximum count error notice. No need to melt off and move the D foot to a C postion. I found that using a 1/4"...
The rainbow boxes of starter ink I am using are Xerox p/n 108R00966 (Pins A & D). What is your part number?
Also - Please note an error in my previous picture - I inverted the description. Pins A & D exist for STARTER ink, Pins A & C are for PRODUCTION ink.
Take a look here:Link
The positions A->D are all in a column on the bottom of the ink.
On the starter ink there are blocks in positions A & C as shown in the picture. On production ink they are in positions A & D. I used a hot X-Acto knife to move the block from C to D on a starter block and...
This is an excerpt from another post: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1667092 where we discuss cut down 8870 ink being even cheaper than the starter ink.
I just hit the dreaded "Starter ink quota exceeded" on my 8570 (ink p/n 108R00926). Of course I have 4 more boxes of 8570 starter...
It looks to me like the 8870 ink is simply a longer version of the 8570 - just over 1/3 longer if you use page count as the ratio.
The "lower" 76% or so of the ink (the side that has the slight arrow pointing out when you can read 'Xerox' - down in the pictures below) is the same as the 8570...
I am working a 7,010.43 error which I narrowed down using the diagnostics mode of the printer. To do so I needed a Phaser 8400 Service Manual. No link in this forum but I found one at Xerox so i thought I would pass it along...
I can't speak for the exact sensor position, but for that emergency or test as you are doing I have on occasion used an old-fashioned eraser between the levers that push the ink down as you close the ink tray door and the remaining stick of ink. Don't do this unless you can see a stick of ink...
I should have noted, for indexing purposes, that the drum heater lamp error is 15,004.45:xxx where "xxx" is your current page count and can be ignored.
For those who keep asking ... the 840, 850,860, 8200 service manuals are online at these links (download all three parts and then expand):
