    out of memory condition

    Depending on how complex or how many items are in the file I sometimes get the same problem, what i find works is exporting to eps ( or pdf ) . I use the eps to put into a rip hotfolder scenario. I don't know if you're set up like that or not hope it helps.

    Basic indesign spot color question

    I shows cmyk because there wasn't a spot "white" hence when outputting a blank c0m0y0k0 "paper" nothing will print, when submitting to printer specify you want, say 2 colour, spot and black they will understand that if they have a even a basic level of print knowledge.     CS3 Printing problem

    When sending a ps file created in CS3 (with PPD: AdobePDF settings) to our rip, only the top 5% shows up, but appears at the bottom of the file. Creating pdfs and putting in the rip though are just fine. Has anybody started using CS3 also have this problem?

    Placing ai files/ art outside of Illy's page layout gets cut off?

    Update..... So far the only solution is to save back to IllustratorCS (11) using 11 -not downsaving to 11 using 12 to get all of the artwork outside of the page layout included in an InDesign page. Go figure.

    Printing PDF problem

    Is it possible they have have profiles settings on images but not on vector? I know that when we print digitally those settings are on the RIP and are adjusted to the same settings for both, or you could export a high res Image pdf for them? That way the colour stays the same over everything.

    Colour is truly a sticky point when trying to reproduce anything whether pantones or repro images because EVERY printer is different from one another even the same model sometimes, meaning you'd have to calibrate your printer (hardware usually required) or trial and error tweaking of your file...

    I would change the drop shadow in Illustrator from multiply to normal - multiply generally is a lot darker printing than on screen.

    Never mind I found it under >Place there are option settings for placing the file, it can place by page of a multiple paged document and choose whether you want to place with all the object, trim or bleed etc.

    How about using Artistic>Watercolour set to 14,0,3 on top a copy of the layer and set it to dissolve over the original at about 70%?

    Strange thing happening with my opcaity!! Help!!!

    Do you accidentally have on overprint preview? (shift+alt+command+Y) Or that it is part of a group with transparency applied in that group? The thing I would do view attributes first if nothing abnormal then I would select same problem objects cut and paste in place.
