was having trouble with files brought down from bootdisk.com. Damaged pc is winme but laptop is xphome - each file I brought down and tried to extract to put onto floppy (or cdrom as laptop doesn't have floppy drive) was showing as corrupt??? First 3 were winrar - which isn't an option on...

Hello and thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I had (in my wisdom....NOT) turned system restore off as for some reason it would never restore back to ANY point showing as available. So....as I can't see my icons in control panel, I don't have the facility to click on system folder to restart...
