Does it happen after the user logs off or restarts their computer? Maybe they don't have the option "reconnect at logon" selected. Just a thought.

Did you delete the old computer account and recreate it new, this way the security ID on the old computer account is deleted and reassociated with the new computer account. This is important if your using the same name on the new computer that the name on the old computer was using.

You could also use the net use commands to disable connections your unfamiluar with and see if the bandwidth drops off. I would imagine you'll learn allot with the name of the computers listed after running the netstat command.

Go to the cmd prompt and type netstat. This will display a list of computers connected to your computer, the protocol being used, what port their using and your using, and the status of the connection. This will help pin point if someone is using your computer as a relay.

Is there any application log files reporting an application hanging, check event viewer. Sometimes you'll see a report about an application hanging. Also check system log files.
