this reply may work if on same machine and now db is corrupt.
i have a complete mksysb of nim server, restored onto an lpar, but commands like lsnim etc. have not been restored (no excludes were used)
i want to get a nim master into an lpar 570 which will go offsite.
i created a mksysb of my original master (f50-nim), nim installed it into a partition and it now runs as i570-nim and any command i use it says 'only excute on a nim master'.
what defines it as a nim master and what can I change...
could some clarify for me please?
if i upgrade using a cd 06/06 for example, is this the same as installing the recommended patch set of the same date?
has anyone seen a problem where having defined an lpar (or several) and then a profile,
and then booting the lpar ok.
when you next look at the hmc display on pc or hmc the profiles have disappeared?
the lpar still runs ok till you next activate it, when it says 'i need a profile to boot'
i am running solaris 10 in vmware on my laptop.
i have int. n/w and 3com pcmcia n/w and wireless n/w in my laptop, and linux creates a eth0 eth1 eth2 for each and works fine.
Solaris only has pcn0. (I can move it to any of the 3 above and it works)
I have tried ifconfig pcn1 plumb etc. but can't...
thanks for all your help
i seem to have fixed it now.
i shutdown powered off the hmc
shutdown the cecs
pulled the power to cecs & hms
pulled the ethernet from hmc to cec
powered on hmc
changed ip on hmc and rebooted
connected power & ip to cecs
can now use .2.2 address and partions are visible...
'that vanilla system' is at ml00 (from the cd) so it will go the way of the cd plus tape install.
besides, how do you get a 'vanilla install' to ask for restore-a-system-backup?
what good is installing it to a different disk?
it restores all the data no problem, it just bails out with odm...
dukessd
i did run it from firmware ok prompt -it wouldn't work from aix would it?!
reread my comment and it says 'it couldn't boot the just failed install, as the bootlist hadn't been updated from yesterdays successful install'
i don't think there is a media set for 5.2 ml01
i don't think it...
this assumes a system exists to be booted - mine is a failed install
all it did was boot the vanilla system which I installed yesterday on a different disk.
i have a customer wants to recover an f50 running aix 5.2 ml01.
using customer cd (ml00) and tape gives after o/mounting:
Symbol _sigqueue (number 171) is not exported from dependent
module /unix.
Examine .loader section symbols with the 'dump -Tv' command.
Could not load...
my pc can route to the other hmc next to it and next address from it, so there isn't a route issue at my end - its at the new hmc end
the ports must be open as i can websm from the same lan
WHAT I AM after is a procedure for re-installing the hmc cec connection using a different ip range on...
yes both hmc can ping each other and any other machine on 192.168.2
i have no other systems on eth0
it says it is private, but i think the netmask overlaps with eth1
