hello, i am looking for the Windows 98 driver for the
Data traveller 2 GB stick.
So i went to their website,and downloaded the DTI.exe file, which should be the correct driver.
and it installs as such, without problems : it creates folders and files, updates the database, asks for rebooting...
i have found some registry keys (wintools) that cannot be deleted, even in safe mode and logged on as admin, and taken full permissions on the key, it says error : cannot delete this key, an error occurred; other keys delete without problems
defreib, i just tried the bargainbuddy solution from PCHELL, but those references did not exist on my system, and when the keys existed, they could not be deleted.
I will look into your other link now
yes, system restore is disabled; i must add i also ran Hijackthis, and searched the registry for IBIS and BargainBuddy, but no references were found

after cleaning a system from malware, i am left with IBIS Toolbar and BargainBuddy which seemingly are removed by adaware, but keep coming back.
I have run :adaware, spybot, cwshredder, housecall, ravantivirus.
does somebody know how to remove these pests?

well, bcastner, i tried your suggestions, but not all were valid : win2000 instead of winXP, but the rest was ok, except :
some things that did not work out :
- restoring a restore.reg file gives error : can only restore binary files
- access to windowsupdate.microsoft.com gives : ...has...
