What fails on TFT power boards?

No, you're quite right, you did type the word "invertor" there...here's a star from me too, well done!

What fails on TFT power boards?

Ah, I see - thanks for explaining that. I don't get a dim image on the screen, so I don't think the CCFL's are lighting up, but I also don't think the TFT itself is powering up... Perhaps you're right and, even though this screen was given to me for free, it's still not worth the bother and...

What fails on TFT power boards?

Thanks for that. Again, I'm not sure what you're referring to as "the invertor" - do you mean the whole power board? The screaming sound, to me, suggested over-voltaged capacitors and, when I examined the board, there were three capacitors with domed end-caps. I replaced them (uprating from...

What fails on TFT power boards?

Well I did change them...and it made no difference, so something else has obviously kicked the bucket. Are you sure this board's an invertor rather than a rectifier? SMPS invertors convert DC to AC...this board, I thought, was doing the opposite - rectifying AC to DC...it certainly has an AC...

What fails on TFT power boards?

Do you mean the voltage regulators? I'm not sure which bit you're referring to as a power invertor... Thanks.

Way to Quieten Down a Gigabit Rackable Switch?

You could try fixing ducting to the back of it and leading it out of the room or somewhere - I tried that with a very noisy, ancient Compaq server once and it made a surprising difference to the noise...

    Ethernet issue

I've built quite a few low-end servers based on high-end desktop boards and have found over and over again that the onboard ethernet is typically unreliable or prone to "weird" problems. I've found this true of Gigabyte, Asus and even Intel boards - particularly if the onboard LAN is gigabit...

    TFT Power Board Failed

Hello, I originally posted this in the "video issues" forum, but it looks like nobody ever goes there :( I've been given a Viewsonic VA2010wb that is apparently dead. Although I get a dim orange light at the power LED, I get no video output at all (no backlight and no OSD, either) and there...

What fails on TFT power boards?

Hello, I've been given a Viewsonic VA2010wb screen that is apparently dead. Although I get a dim orange light at the power LED, I get no video output at all (no backlight and no OSD, either) and there's a nasty high-pitched whistle which sounds like a capacitor going through its...

    VMServer Access Problem

Well, I figured it out in the end... For anybody else having the same problem, check that the VMWare services have ALL started successfully. I had to manually start the "VMWare Host Agent" service and then ignore two or three certificate warnings to get the home page up... NFI

    VMServer Access Problem

Hello, apologies firstly for this request for help being rather a "noob" question and quite possibly outside the remit of this forum. I'm trying to install VMServer for the first time on my own PC, but I can't access the VMServer Home Page (from the start menu). I get a "Internet Explorer...

integrate blogspot blog into client website

Hiya, no, I know it's not directly related to php, but I couldn't really find a more suitable forum - I thought I had the best chance of getting a good answer here :) I had a look through the google help, but I couldn't find anything that...well...helped. I was a bit surprised, to be...

integrate blogspot blog into client website

Hello, I've never tried doing this before, but I've been asked to integrate a blogspot blog into a website. Can anyone please explain what exactly this means and how to do it? Many thanks. NFI

adodb.recordset object ...er, how does it work?

That seems improbably sensible syntax - I'll give it a go, thanks :) Paul
