Thanks Budley, Westredd.
Budley is a genius, that's exactly what happened. I removed the battery, used only the AC adapter, and it boots up just fine. Must have drained totally.
Is there any thing I can do to rehab the battery or is it toasted for good?
Also, I used this laptop as a...
I have got a Gateway 600 laptop that suddenly does nothing on boot up. Before this the only thing wrong was that the battery recently no longer hold a charge.
When the power is turned on, the harddisk is not even accessed, the LCD shows nothing on the screen, not even any basic BIOS...
Just a note. Even with NAT, IP firewall, latest service packs, I've been breached. So, protect yourself with additional firewall softwares.
Somehow they are running probes against my 2000 Pro computer even with a private IP address and no direct link. Anyone has any ideas.
Thanks guys. Yes, I often leave the system on, but it's on NAT and no direct link to the outside, so I thought it would not be a problem.
Also, I thought if you don't open any executables or attachments, you should not have a mail virus problem!
At least the trojans one don't get through.
Can...
Thanks for the inputs. I have a standard mouse and not an optical mouse. I have reformat the drive once before and still the problem exists. I did not see the moving mouse problem until a recent month.
I am using NAT with private IP addresses for internal computers, can someone still break...
I think my computer is haunted by ghosts. The mouse pointer occasionally moves around on the screen by itself. I really don't care if it is haunted, what I worry about is spywares or trojan horses in the computer. Can anyone enlighten me as to the causes of the moving pointer? Thanks.
That is what I would like to do, create an image of a drive, or just a partition where the working files reside, while the server is up. I also like to do it automatically weekly. May be NT backup could be used for the purpose. If there are any better ideas out there, please post. Thanks.
I would like to have a weekly backup of a server's hard drive onto a spare hard drive. I want the backup to be easily restorable in case the main hard drive fail. BTW, the main hard drive is mirrored. I have not use Veritas, could it be used for this?
Also, has anyone tried to use Ghost to do...
Thanks.
I just thought this would be an inexpensive way to go. IDE drives are cheap nowaday. The drives are all in slide bays so they can be easily switched in and out.
I am looking for any comments on the drawbacks of the system, the ABIT IDE Raid, and any suggestions on a better back-up...
I had posted this in Win2000 Server forum, but may be more appropriate here.
I want to build a failsafe server. I plan to use ABIT or IWILL motherboards with built-in IDE RAID. The system will have 3 exact hard drives. 2 of the hard drives will be exact mirror of each other. The third one will...
I want to build a failsafe server. I plan to use ABIT or IWILL motherboards with built-in IDE RAID. The system will have 3 exact hard drives. 2 of the hard drives will be exact mirror of each other. The third one will be a back up drive using Ghost backing up nightly. Has anyone built silmilar...
Someone is trying to bring my Exchange server down by BOMBARDING me with a wrong email account in my domain. The trouble is that my notification account is filling up with undelivered error because no account exist. Also, my queue is filling up.
I pretty much have all the patches. What else...
I am setting up an inhouse network including win2K server, DNS server, and Exchange 2000 server. I am debating whether internal and external domain name should be the same. I see the benefit of using two different ones as stated above. However, will the Exchange 2000 users have any problems if...
How do I set up multiple FTP sites under 1 IP address for Win2000? I need to set up so that each user who logs on to that FTP address automatically directed to their own allowed FTP folder. Before, I assigned each FTP site with their own IP address, but now I am limited to using only one for...
