Thanks, TTT;
I have to confess my ignorance of this old Legend and its MMessaging;
But, what is the MM System Manager's mailbox number?
Locally, of course, one just dials Intercom + 770 + 0 + #. So I thought 770 was the default Sys Man ext number.
(FWIW, The internal system has four digit...
.. right, TTT (I was just reading one of your other posts on www.pbxtech.com !)
But using the local sys admin Intercom + 770 + 0 + # gets and error message, "Cannot access that mailbox."
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
mwm
... local voice mail access works fine: dial intercom + 770 + 0 + #, etc.
Remotely, I can call into an extension and use *7 or *8 to transfer and Merlin Messaging answers but-- HOW TO GET SYSTEM MANAGER?
The purpose is to administer vm boxes--reset pw, etc.
Possible?

... trying to install RealPlayer and Java as mozilla plugins.
... downloaded java and realplayer bin files into separate new /tmp/realplayer and a /tmp/java dirs. Bash then shows (only) these dir names with a dark green background (what does that mean?).
But the console cannot not see into...
... I also found this article of Cisco's order of operations and it seems to make the same point regarding the fact that the acl is done prior to NAT (and also prior to routing).
Thanks a million, guys.
FYI, it points out that there is also another order of operations having to do with QoS, if...
Thanks, plshlpme and jimfixit-- the acl is, as you guessed, on the wan interface. In this case, it is dsl and the acl is on the wan interface BVI1 & the acl line is, "... access-group 103 in."
Yes, I do recall the order of operation issue and I now have O'Reilly's book, "Cisco IOS Access...
Guys, I am baffled: how to remote ssh into a local host ...
I can ssh within the inside subnet (192.168.1.xxx) and remote ssh works IF the acl line is:
"... permit tcp any any eq 22 log-input."
But it fails if I use:
"... permit tcp any host 192.168.1.xxx eq 22 log-input."
Of course...
Better to know now rather than later!
What about web Nortel tech support sites? Do they, e.g., A-1 Teletronics, have access to the backdoor? They have classes in Nortel, so perhaps they are qualified as dealers. (They are closed now, EST).
Thanks again;
mwm
Thanks -- opening a case with Nortel requires, I believe, either dealer status or registered technician status. Or a customer can establish an account with Nortel.
And I am none of these, only an interconnect guy; so is that the sad end?
Thanks for all your quick help.
Yours,
mwm
Thanks.
Traditional Nortel has a System Manager pw reset via the dialpad. But this BCM 50 is an established system set up by someone else and the client does not know any passwords.
What would be the best way to get into it, assuming there is a pw that is unknown?
A backdoor or is it a...
Thanks, guys! This should get me started. I suppose that Firefox will work as well though you specifically mentioned IE???
And are the web pages for the Nortel like the Call Pilot web pages? I really do like web access for administering vm.
No special Nortel software, right?
The...
What is your experience with laptop connectivity and working with the BCM through a laptop?
While I am very familiar with traditional Nortel and networking, the BCM is new to me. And I have had less than great success with laptops connecting to Panasonic, Avaya, etc. Just clunky, old and buggy...
