Depends. If they used software it is easy. You just look for the software. There should be a wizard or a utility that has the setup of the existing computers. If they did it some other way through mapping....I don't have a clue.
I have a Netgear print server. It connects to the parallel port of...
If you have trouble getting connected, make sure you can ping. Go to start run and type in cmd. Then type in ping 192.168.1.?? The number of the computer you are trying to ping in place of the ?
You have to set one NIC to talk to One side of the LAN. As in give it any IP address on that side. Give the other NIC an Ip address on the other side. Run RRAS and set it up as a Router. You can get a Megalab at www.trainsignal.com that has a CD that will walk you through this. I think it is...
Well in order to use the Crossover cable you will have to do a kind of little network. The same workgroup name, "which you can leave default". You will have to share the HARD DRIVES. And I would give a static IP address of 192.168.1.5 to one computer and 192.168.1.6 to the other...
I take it you are having problems resolving DNS? Are you pointing to the 2kServer as the DNS server or are pointing to your local ISP's DNS servers? If not make the primary one of your ISP's DNS servers and see if things change.

Does their side say "Message sent successfully to xxx" X being your computer name? It could be they aren't doing something write. Go to cmd prompt and type "net send (computer name) "Text of message" then hit enter. Example:
net send ws10 Hey Bob, how are you?

9 times out of 10 Print Drivers will hang it up every time. I had an HP Printer that was hanging up my 2k machine. As a matter of fact I have seen it a lot.

On the account name just right click and change her information. That is if this is Win2k and you will keep all of her roaming information or local information such as backgrounds and shortcuts...etc.

Sorry Charlie.....Just kidding, I always wanted to say that.
The Norton Ghost is great but has a lot of draw backs. 1st of all you have to make sure your Cd-Burner is compatible with it. Second you have to make sure you have the right Media.
For example, I used TDK CD-R Data Cd's. They were up...
Which one did you use? I am curious about this also. I was looking at the same situation but I figured I would write it down before I left for the day...
I am also going to be dialing in to my server and running some of the other computers through a Tight VNC or something similiar.

Some of the command line problems might be from not putting a space where needed or using the wrong slash. I also found that sometimes when the \\servername doesn't work, you can use the IP address and it does.

Best advice.... GET A DROP with some MAJOR AIR FLOW coming in there. Its like this, There is absolutely nothing that heat can't damage. Every Server room I have even been in has been kept atleast 74 or below. I used to work for IBM/Comm Data. They kept their Server room at 68. It was an ice box...
Thought I would ask this because no one else that I have seen has. You mentioned SCSI there. Is this a SCSI drive running off of the Motherboard or off of a Controller Card in a PCI slot??
If it is in a Controller card on a PCI slot we have a whole new ballgame.

Sounds wierd but it is most likely the power supply. If you have another computer try putting the hard drive in it. No matter how bad the hard drive is it shouldn't cause the pc to turn off unless it is causing a short somehow which I can't see.

I've seen this kind of thing before when people wipe out a NT partition. You will probably need NT boot disk and format and partition it to a Fat32 after you get it up.
