I am running MySQL on a Solaris x86 host. I am currently backing up using mqsqldump and he database is about 1GB in size. It takes about 10 mins to backup and a whopping 6.5 hours to restore. The database will continue to grow and the time it takes to restore is not acceptable.
I also need to...
prex1, thanks! That is just what I was looking for!
I love Perl! Just like Unix, there is always a way to do what you want to do....and somebody who knows how to do it.
feherke, thanks for your reply.
I am aware of printf, but was hoping to be able to do this with having to change every print statement into a printf statment.
I have just discovered the -l option to Perl. While it is great in saving me typing all those \n's, what if I do no want to put a line return to a print statement when I am using this?
I searched and can't seem to find a way to suppress the line return when using -l.
Is there a way of doing...
Does anyone know what the minimum recommended Solaris 10 x86 release is for using SVM to mirror the root disk? I believe there were some issues on the earlier releases.
Networker version: 7.4.2
Server OS: Solaris 10
Client OS: Solaris 8
Our network team wanted to get rid of an old subnet what was on our external network and move it to the internal network.
We have a client with a host name of "system1" and the fully qualified name was "system1.widget.org"...

I was not really looking for assistance with problems we are having, but rather replying nyck's my experience with upgrading and my thoughts on 7.4.x.
We do run index/bootstrap backup regularly, but it would take so long to recover all our clients that this in not a good option for us to...
Rachel, I am not sure if this helps but you can use the nsrjb command to find if there are tapes (mounted or not) in a tape drive:
backup> nsrjb -j LTOJB | grep drive
drive 1 (/dev/rmt/3cbn) slot 22: -
drive 2 (/dev/rmt/2cbn) slot 9: Delta:033
drive 3 (/dev/rmt/1cbn) slot 34: November:037...
We recently upgraded from 7.2.2 to 7.4.1 and then to 7.4.2. and I wish we did not have to do it.
The upgrade process from 7.2.x to 7.4.x is irreversible as the database structure is different in 7.4.x and the upgrade changes the structure. So in preparation for upgrading I would recommend...

OK, I think I found what the problem is; it looks like a library issue.
I see this in the syslog:
sudo[538]: PAM unable to _pam_dlopen(/usr/lib/pam/pam_securityserver.so)
sudo[538]: PAM adding faulty module: /usr/lib/pam/pam_securityserver.so
su[539]: PAM unable to...
Looks the same as yours:
root# ls -l /private/etc/sudoers
-r--r----- 1 root wheel 1135 Sep 23 2007 /private/etc/sudoers
I am using Leopard 10.5.4 and I don't believe the users need to be part of the wheel group because they are not on any of my other Macs. I believe that they only need to...
twiSSt, thank you for your reply.
I do not believe that this is an ssh issue as I cannot sudo or su locally on the problem machine. I am thinking the problem must be at the Darwin (OS) level as I can access all users at the Aqua (GUI)level.
I did try a permissions fix and it did not resolve...
