thats quite unusual, it does look like the internal NIC has failed, Can you put it on an external network card like a jetdirect or similar to test it ?, have you plugged into your laptop through the parallel port to check if its working that way ? the maximum recommended length for a parallel...- Mosser

HP Laserjet 5 prints wrong characters
Sounds like you are using a downloaded soft font that has got corrupted in the printers memory, When a softfont is downloaded into a printers memory, it creates a lookup table and references each character by its associated label, if this table gets corrupted (shifted) then it will print some...- Mosser

Could you take in a laptop and a router/switch and create yourself a mini network to test it in ?, Have you verified the network cabling between it and the server ?, have you plugged it into a 100meg only port as it is likely to be a 10 meg only device ?, check you arent using a crossover cable...- Mosser

servers i know nothing about, but HP printers i know lots about !! 51.2x is a laser error, it could be the laser is off centre, low output from the laser, but its most likely a dust buildup on one of the mirrors or lenses in the laser scanner assembly that simply needs cleaning off, open it up...- Mosser
