In case anyone else has this question; Nero Ultra does have it's own encoder. I tested it on my backup computer and it will play DVD's without having the Cyberlink encoder installed. Apparently, Pinnacle has changed the codecs but uninstalling it does not correct the problem.I still have skippy...
Thanks Bcastner but changing priority setting had no effect either. I am still working on some of the stuff from linney's post. This all started when I installed Pinnacle Studio and Quicktime, I think. In past experience it seems that Quicktime tries to take over all the jobs that WMP usually...
Good question! I checked everything else I could find and the mpegs and streaming stuff is perfect. I uninstalled Nero Express and the DVD video is clear but not in sync! The mouth movements are not in sync with the words they are saying. So to answer your question, it seems that it is now only...
Great Post Linney, with lots of information and reading. Non of it worked, but I appreciate the effort! I broke my cardinal rule and installed more than one thing at a time so am not sure where to look for the problem or exactly when it started. I don't watch DVD's on my computer very often and...
I am suddenly having skipping sounds in Media Player in the audio of a DVD. Installed Pinnacle Studio 9.3 which contains Quicktime prior to the problem. Tried uninstalling Pinnacle but the skipping didn't go away.
Any ideas?

Thanks for all the information guys. Linney gave me the links to a combination of problems that resolved part of the issue as well as a heads up regarding the clunking noises coming from the Hard Drive. Sounded to me like it was going to give up at any time and the "Shut Down" issue would no...
My Control Panel>Power Options has no APM Tab! ? All the power settings are the same in computer A as in computer B but computer B doesn't shut down. ? Thanks for the input!
Mojoman
One computer insists on going through all the motions until it gets to ""Windows is shutting down" but it never does. I have to manually power it off! The hard drive just sits there and goes clack, clack, clack! I've defragged it, Norton Uitlied it, and everything else I can think of but it just...

. If you manually change the top, bottom, left and right sizes rather than using the Full size button or F11, then exit as you are doing, the Windows size should be remembered between logons.
. And when they don't...

Mojoman; This is kind of sound one of my hard drives is making. It just started after I did a clean OS install and update of other...
Worked Perfectly! I would never have found it on my own! Nothing in NERO [That I have found] mentions anything about .bin files! How you guys find this stuff amazes me but keep it up! Without you I'd be totally lost! (;-)
MOJOMAN!
I have Nero 6 Ultra and Roxio Easy CD. I guess the real problem is that I don't know what to do with a .bin file! (;-( It is supposed to be an application and the only thing I've ever used .bin files for was to program chips in keyboards. ? BTW; It Does have a cue file with it.
Mojoman
I hope I didn't post this twice but not sure if this the right place to ask. How do I burn a .bin file to CD? I'm familiar with .ISO files but have little experience with .bin files.
Mojoman
I'm not sure this is the right place for this question but how does one burn a .bin file? I'm familiar with .ISO files but this is a new one to me! Does it first have to be converted to an .ISO file? I have Nero 6 Ultra and Roxio and neither one seem to know what to do with it.(Nor do I)
(;-(...
