I dont remember this server. Does it have a HALT button in the front panel or not? Are you aware of the use and consequence of this button? Could you have been getting a different message than a failed to open? If halt is activated via the button in the front pannel, you will not be "allowed"...

Meke sure you are not trying to force "Full Duplex Mode" from the Console... In the ">>>" prompt.. you have a few choices for setting the "ewa0_mode" option 10 Twisted 20 ?? 100 Fast 200 FastFD Full Duplex can cause more damanage than good if wrongly used...
