    nec ds 1000 performance

I love the DS1K/2K. With the IntraMail system, you can't beat it. The caller ID passing to the Analog ports (no other major brand KSU does this) makes it a great choice for a Res or commercial environment. I am using an 8-slot 2k on a 50-user car dealership with the new T1 card. The new PC...

    Caller ID on Transtalk 9031 w/Legend R7.0

To install on a Legend R7, the card must be a 016 ETR, or will it work on a 016 tip ring card? I have a 016tr card and cant get the 9031 to work. My local tech support said it is a setting on the receiver to get it to work. I don't believe that is correct though. Looking for a clarification...

    Home audio,Theatre advice

If you are using Dig Sat, make sure the cable is quad shield RG6 that is tested to 2.2ghz min. The higher quality Sat cables are usally alum foil & shld, w/ a solid center copper conductor. This is the best choice. Composite/CCTV signal is baseband and travels down the middle of the center...

    Problems with DS1000

What firmware version are you using? I had this same problem, and it was an upgrade that fixed it. If you are a 5 star NEC dealer, use the tech support line, those guys are awesome. mnmcomm The best price is not always the best value

    Fluke Microscanner Pro or NOT

I love the built-in ping test. It beats the price of the Fluke Linkrunner. I guess I will not be able to sell both of my Micrscanners. I've got to keep one to have a TDR. mnmcomm The best price is not always the best value

    Fluke Microscanner Pro or NOT

It is the LanScaper unit I was reffering to w/ the TDR. No I do not have one yet, but I saw one @ a demo. It is the best deal on the market. mnmcomm The best price is not always the best value

    Snips Sharpening??

The Klein sharpener is good. I like that Beer Can method though. I usally take them down to a lawn mower repair place that sharpen mower blades. If i get 3-4 pairs done @ a time, it is $2-3 per pair. When I was a project manager, re-shapening was one of my 'perks' I'd give my guys. They loved...

    Fluke Microscanner Pro or NOT

Test-Um has a new one out. It has TDR function, port flash, etc., just like the MicroScanner I currently have. It also has a built-in ping test. It comes w/ 6 remote ID ends, adapters, case, etc. Kit is around $350 US MSRP. Beats the heck out of the MS Pro, price wise. They want another couple...

cable laying on the ground...Lightning problems ?

Being under the house, they are in the cone of protection of the building. As far as lightning, the ground will be a much better conductor, hence the name. Only worry about it as much as if you were standing outside, on the ground, when one of those regular spring thunder boomers you get in S FL...

    NAM Crashes

Does it just stop working, or constantly reboot? I had one that kept rebooting on it's own for no reason. After many tech support calls, it turns out that i had break the seal and open the unit, which really voids the warranty unless you are specifically told to by tech support to do so, and the...

    New house being built

on the conduit thing posted earlier. The NEC says 360 degrees between pull boxes, but the TIA/EIA says there should be no more than 180 degrees, and no more than 100' between pull boxes. Pull boxes should not be used to changed directions of the conduit run either. one day they all will be...

    New house being built

you must keep at least 6" of space, per standards, between the power & data cables, or any other low voltage cabling. I actually try to make it at least 12" to be safe. I just had one yesterday where the cabling contractor tye-wrapped the data to electrical cords that feed some...

OfficeConnect Dual Speed Switch 8, IP?

both of those switches are unmanaged. only manageable switches will be assigned an IP address. there is not an admin function on an unmanaged switch. Matthew Masi RCDD

    Cat 5/5e

The link rating is always the weakest link. If you put a Cat3 jack on a Cat6 cable, it will only be rated as a Cat3 link, and so on. the difference between the Cat5 and Cat5e jacks is minimal. I would go with the Cat5E system. Just a reminder on cable, there are actually two enhanced Cat5...

    Tips on 200 Pair Cat3 Type 66

when you lace in the pairs on the 66 clips, start from the bottom w/ the last pair and work your way up to the first (wht-blue). This keeps the previously laced pair in the clips out of the way. It makes it go much faster when you are not fighting to keep the individual wires out of the way. Ten...
