I think it is not possible to get an Oracle export file and send it to the tape in one step.
What you can do is to prepare the export file and place it in a filesystem in bpstart_notify script. Then you can back it up in that backup session.
Another solution I once implemented was NetBackup...
Thanks for you replay. It clarifies what is a data dictionary for me.
Now, another question is how to distinquish between data dictionary views and dynamic performance views if they both use the v$something name convention.
From Couchman book I understood the data dictionary views usually...
Hi,
I prepare myself to Fundametals I exam with Couchman book. In the first chapter of the book I found information that dynamic performance views are not a part of data dictionary (data dictionary consists of static views only). In the second chapter I found the information that they ARE a part...
Hi,
I used to use nbsupport.exe utility on windows platform to document my NetBackup 4.5 configuration. Now I need to gather the NetBackup 4.5 configuration on unix platform. Is there anything similar to nbsupport on unix platform?

Hi,
I found this info at http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/233888.htm
The note says:
The bpstart_notify and bpend_notify scripts do not get called during a hot (online) database backup.
An the solution is:
[...] To determine which scripts need to be modified, check the NetBackup DataCenter...

Hello,
I'm installing NetBackup 4.5 Master Server on HP-UX ServiceGuard package for the first time. I went into lots of problems - the list is long, so I will not go into details now.
I'm looking for any white papers, docs, tips on that type of installations as I'm not able to find it on veritas...
Hello,
I plan to convert my 9.2 database datafile layer from raw devices to filesystem files (database is on hp-ux).
At first I thought about exporting the data, changing the structure from raw to filesystem and then importing. But the database is huge and the required downtime will not be...
I can't agree that a virtual node must always go through network, because my experience is different. I can see the virtual node backups sometimes go through lan and sometimes directly through scsi - the backup time differs a lot in these two cases (lan backup 2 hours, scsi backup 50 min).
I...
If libraries are connected locally it is not possible, as far as I understand Veritas, to define a virtual media server. The reason is a location of media database, which cannot be shared in configuration on Windows cluster.
But I haven't tried launching a wizzard with virtual node name.
I'm a...
Each phisical node is configured as Media Server.
Oracle DB is backed up using virtual node name, because the database may switch between nodes.
Yes, it is possible to backup local data to its node library. But how to backup to locally attached drives when backing up a virtual node?
I'm not...
Hi,
I have an MSCS cluster build of 2 servers. Each server has a locally attached LTO library (via SCSI), so I have 2 Media Servers.
I have an Oracle database running in a cluster package available through a virtual ip address.
I defined a device group consisted of 2 libraries and a backup...
