Mail Relay - Logon To System Account

Hi everyone, I have set up a new Exchange 2000 server, following all the recommended practices for shutting down open mail relay. I have tested the server from the abuse.net site, and it blocks anonymous connections except for the last attempt. Based on this, and our security event logs, I...

Encoding Integers Into an Existing Byte Array

Toolkit, Thanks so much for your post. I am fairly new to Java, coming over from the .NET world. I know how to accomplish the task using VB or C#, but didn't know how to do it in Java. Thanks, Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Encoding Integers Into an Existing Byte Array

I am trying to write a method that takes a byte array as an input, appends a 3-byte header onto the array and sends the resulting byte array to a remote host via an OutputStream. My method signature is something like this: public void write(byte[] data) { byte [] packet = new byte[data.length...

    Urgent!! Win2k Server Installation Problem

Mike, Thanks for your response. I just now checked the cable and it the hd may not have been connected to the right connector on the ribbon cable. Also, I just used FDISK to create and activate a primary DOS partition. I am going through the Win2k setup once again and am converting the...

    Urgent!! Win2k Server Installation Error

Steve, Thanks for your response. I had the same result with the previous hd that was in the machine. I assumed that it was just bad and bought another one, but now I think it is something hosed up with the formatting. For what it's worth, I flashed the bios to the latest version before doing...

    Urgent!! Win2k Server Installation Problem

Hey Guys, I have made Windows 2000 Server boot disks for installation on a brand new 40GB hard drive. I booted with the first disk and followed all the steps, letting the installation format the new drive. When prompted to reboot I did so, removing the installation disks from the floppy...

    what does DCD Down mean?

I'm sure you already have an answer to your question, but DCD is Data Carrier Detect. When this is up, the router has detected the presence of a carrier signal. HTH, Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

I did not have IP NAT inside configured on the subinterface that connected to the remote network, and my NAT access list did not allow hosts from the remote network to obtain addresses. The problem is always in the last place you look! Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

Okay. Thanks. We actually resolved the problem. It was due to misconfiguration of NAT. Thanks for all the responses. Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

I have a router with a very similar configuration that does not have this entry. We are also experiencing problems reaching the Internet from remote networks that are connected to this router. It looks like a routing issue, so my suspicion is that this may be related. Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

Thanks, Mike. Do you have any insight on this problem? The router does not seem to be routing properly. I can ping hosts beyond it from certain subnets, but not from others. I'm pretty sure that I need to get rid of this all 1's subnet, but I'm not sure where it's coming from. Gregory A...

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

I was in the process of setting up RIP v2 this afternoon and getting rid of the static routes wherever possible. I am going to finish it tomorrow. Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

Actually, I typed "no ip address" and the entry was removed from the routing table. When I put it back in, however, it came back. Gregory A. Lusk, P.E., CCNA

Variable Subnet (I didn't do it!)

Hey Gang, I have a 2621 router whose serial interface is configured as follows: interface Serial0/0 bandwidth 1544 ip address 64.89.110.134 255.255.255.252 ip access-group 150 in ip access-group 100 out ip verify unicast reverse-path no ip redirects no ip unreachables no ip...
