I changed the object permissions of a AD printer so that a group of users do have read permission to that object, reinstalled the printer on the client and made a restart by client computer. Nothing is changed!

we have a w2k active directory running with w2k and xp clients. The w2k clients can, however the xp clients cannot see following structure in the network neighborhood:
entire network_
|_ microsoft windows network
|_ directory
Is this a known issue?
first, to check that the system loads. if this is the case you can go to the system settings and search for, say conflicts between hardware drivers or settings whatsoever. try to get more information from support.microsoft.com.

I have had installed a Norton Personal Firewall 2004.
This should have been configured (allowing or denying network traffic to/from a specified source of network address or address range etc.).

before sp2 installation I could ping the own machine ip (static one) and had access to the workgroup. After the sp2 installation pinging the own machine ip results in delivery failure. Pinging localhost, router, other ip's of the workgroup works. I have also access to the internet...
