well of course relaying is a dangerous venture even if it is used with authentication.....among the 3 types of authentication the best one is integrated windows ...but u have to c whether ur remote users can contact ur domain controller or not if they are not logging in to ur dc and integrated...

in ur receipient policy u just have an additional SMTP address to accept mail for...

since e2k3 uses its own improves smptp and pop3 services and servers...first of all try telnet to ur exchange server on port no 25 and 110. check the configuration of ur default smtp and pop3 server..check the services are running....or else create a new smtp and pop3 server this might help...
