wilsona experience sounds right. In case you want to run some calculation, I'd suggest you to test your applications in a normal NT4 / W2k workstation, write down the average amount of memory and cpu your average user will use. RAM is the very important. You don't want your server paging.

I am looking for a way to launch the Windows NT security screen: (MSGINA.DLL)
- Without using "Windows NT security"
- without pressing ctrl+alt+del
Suggestions welcome, no third party app, please. scripts/batch files are OK though.
Could you give more information?
- low bandwidth means dial-in, WAN? Because minimal 10Mbps half-duplex LAN are more than enough and should not be considered low band.
- DOS client using which protocol to login to MF servers?
When you copy profiles, make sure:
1. The profile path is properly stated in the user manager for domains, profile , Terminal Server profile path
2. The user profile directory is shared and the user has rights on it
But most important, copy profiles using the following method:
1. Right click...
Just read int the novell site that the issue has been resolved with sp3 for Intranetware client 4.8.
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/2959558.htm (the issue is "Resolved where ProfileDlgTimeOut being used for all Novell GINA dialogs."), My suggestion resolves...
CitrixEngineer is right. NT is not an exponential on the security field. Security comes with cost of loosing versatility.
I think the security issue could be worked out securing better the file system. On NT4 you can't hide only one disk so, you have to carefully secure them without cutting...
If you use roaming profiles and set by policy to have the "Timeout for dialog boxes" set to a low number of seconds (like 0, 1 or 2) to avoid having the "Slow network detected blah blah blah" message during the user logon, the Intranetware client login splash will vanish at...
The icaBar runs, by default if the user has administrator rights. Could be possible (for local accounts, not Domain ones) that a local-manually created account in both servers has admin rights in one and not in the other.
If the account is a domain one (not locally created):
1. Launch Poledit...
That is because the default user shell is set to explorer.exe. In a normal workstation if you open the task manager and kill the explorer.exe, the whole desktop disapears. It is the reverse effect. By starting explorer.exe (user shell) windows starts the desktop.
CitrixEngineer is right to the...
You could also give to the users Netscape in kiosk mode:
\\path\netscape.exe -k -start_java -browser http://url
-k starts netscape in kiosk mode (no menus).
WindowsCE clients are faster but the OS is closed. Windows NT Thin CLients (not NT workstations running ICA clients) are terribly slugish
In a long run, I found Unix/Linux based TC are easier to handle for one reaon: you can use BootP and keep a consistent/update OS and ICA client in one boot...
Mandatory profiles imply that the user has no customization. No personal dictionary, user typer initials, no styles defined, no printer defined, no page size modifications and so on. And, when the user tries to close Winword, after changing any of the above he/she will be prompted with the error...
