If ISA is on the C drive, check how much space you have allocate for web caching? Also are the page files on this drive, try moving them to the d drive.

One of the reasons to seize roles, is that if you have many DC's then your can allocate the FSMO roles across many servers.
I would change the operational master first before you demote the first DC, the rest will go on DCPROMO.

Check that you haven't assigned a user a mailbox, but they have never opened it. I had this problem because if the user does not use there mailbox it will not appear in ESM.

You can, however you will need a patch before you install. Should be on M$ web site somewhere. I don't really recommend it though, i gave up and upgraded to ISA.
Strange, i've also had no problems with SP3. Infact my two domain controllers are performing better since the upgrade. Haven't had the download files problem either.
I also have SP3 running on about 50 Win2K pro machines. All are running fine.
I suggest moving straight to Service pack 3 on Exhange 2000. I have had it installed for months with no problems.
Don't worry about the RAM, store.exe will utilise all available memory but will reliquish resources when requred.

I actually have my exchange 2000 on a domain controller, can i make this a member server without messing around with exchange? Can i just run dcpromo and demote the server or do i have to amend the exchange installation?
