Here's a new twist to the story. In the past few minutes I checked Google Groups, and following advice there, I downloaded an update to Google Desktop. That SEEMS to have fixed the problem. Unless I missed something along the way,I thought I was doing that. I followed the directions and disabled everything under each of the four categories. I thought smah's suggestion fixed it, but I was premature in reaching that conclusion. I find that as long as the browser is open in the "add-on disabled" mode, it works. But when I close the browser and try the desktop shortcuts, they still won't work. I even tried going through and...- maplehill
