Yeah I was using PC-Cillin at the time, but since then had reformatted and not bothered to put the virus scanner back on and the problem had not occured again.

Yes, simply retyping the correct server name corrects the problem for a while. It seems to be on reboot that the server name is changed.
I wondered maybe whether it was something to do with Windows 2000 Internet Information Services which I have running.

I have several pop3 email accounts set up in Outlook Express 6. Often, I find that the incoming POP3 Server name becomes set to "localhost" and the Account Name for this account has a forward slash followed by the correct incoming server name appended to it. ie. pop.ukgateway.net...
Unfortunately I have tried this, and the file extensions and programs associated with them are the same as they were before the problem arose. It appears that something has been changed within W2K that makes it not realise the file is an image, and therefore not produce the thumbnail in explorer.
I used to use the thumbnail view in windows explorer successfully and it displayed most image types with no problem. I recently had to reinstall my graphics program (CorelDraw 8), and now the thumbnail view will only work with .bmp files. It now does not recognise any other files as images and...
