I have never heard of somthing doing that before. you may want to check you settings for your sound card, and then check you system boot settings, and see if it offers any help there. But with out more specific detail than that i cant do much for you

Norton is the way to go it offers the best protection for the price youre going to pay.
As for the problems you just need to understand what the program does and read up on it, make sure you get your updates and do regular maintance, You can also tell norton what to do and when yo do it...
Yes that is normal, you need to disable autoprotect. The reason for this a comon thing a virus does is move data on your hard drive, so Norton sees it as a virus action and keeps interupting it, since defrag is doing just that (moving information on your harddrive)
I would try to get another flop y drive and go that route, or you can take the hard drive and hook it to another computer, using an ide controller card
well i finally found out that his cd rom was going out but i guess i just didnt want to admit it as a possiality
thanks for youre help guys.
and hey teknikel i tried wht you said and still no luck
You are going to get blue screens as long as you are using win 98.
As for you windows protection error. One of two things it could be your system is gettin to hot or you have a bad stick of ram. Check those two things and your problem will be solved
Well since intell got out of there rambus contract the ram manufactures ar raising there prices to make up for the loss. By the mid of next year you will be paying 1.00 per meg
You could take it to get it repaired, but in the long run you will be better off getting a new printer. I would suggest a HP930 series or the Lexmark x53
Ok take a wack at this one. Im work as a tech, and ive came across a duzie.
First he has an Epox 8k7a ddr board. running 768meg ram, with a 1800 xp chip. 100gig wd hard drive.
Every time i goto open a program in the the cd rom i get an error saying
" not enough memory please shut down...
Gateway also has this patch and you can also get it through the mirosoft updates. I had the same problem with my gateway, ( and no i have other systems), It should also be on your restore cd but you might call gateway and ask them to tell you where it is i cant remember.
