im having problem with dialup using linux-mandrake 8.0. i'm using usrobotics sportster (faxmodem 56K). seems to me, the systems dialing out but couldn't get through during connection with the ms windows server. i'm getting error: Timeout expired while waiting for the PPP interface to come up...- linuxnewb

Power off not working with Linux shutdown
Thanks for the tip Cristian. Problem is that I'm shutting down right from KDE. I'm sure that I just have to change a setting in a conf file but no idea which one! Any ideas?- linuxnewb

I just installed Red Hat 7.2 on an old spare computer I have and I'm having problems with shutdown. When I shutdown Linux, I get the usual shutdown dialog but the last line now reads 'Power Down' or something like that. Then I have to manually shut down the computer.
