Hi Ron,
Thnaks for the feed back. Now I am really confussed as to what the heck is not working correctly. I fully get what you mean about find seeing the mount point and my backup command with the i doing a backbyname and thus just backing you the representation of the dir and not going into...
Greetings,
I use the find command to feed the backup command to accomplish a system backup. The example would be:
find /usr \
/var \
/home \
/ -xdev|backup -ivqf /dev/rmt0
The -xdev is supposed to find everything in / that is within the hd4 filesystem. It is not supposed to...
rootvg should only be on internal disk and not on SAN disks."
HUH? I have for the last two years bounced back and forth between SAN and internal disks for maintance on powerpath and SSD. Heck I have had a system with a SAN and internal mirrored for months and months. AIX does not care. Disk is...
Your assumption about the 1.25 rule is correct. If you find you are actually paging on a regular basis you will need to address memory management. All the rules you may have used on a older RS/6000 do not apply on a P5 processor. A good resource is...
I think you are getting stopped at the install level. You should be booting form a CD that is +/- one ML level form the mksysb. You can boot from tape if all you have nothing but time but Cd is way way faster. Now, once you are booted and have pressed 1 and enter twice, one to id the console and...

That is how I have always done it, but then I am a bit of a Cowboy and do not always use the tools to do what vi allows me to do. I have never user the proper tool to edit inittab and have never had a problem.
The actual command to change the default user stanza is:

Hi All,
I just got off of the phone with IBM and have some insite. The only 64 bit compatable SSA card is the "IBM SSA 160 SerialRAID Adapter" aka feature code 6225/6230, FRU 09L2090.
Hope this saves some of you some hassel
Larry
Hey Jarrett,
Thanks for the response. This is not actuall realted to APAR IY56389, the too large of a bosboot image. Well kinda but not really. I have always booted from a CD to recover a mksysb. Booting from tape is just too bloody slow.
IBM tells me that you cannot boot from ML02 based CD...
