    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

I just got the new admin server installed and will try the client soon. Then it will just be a waiting game to see if the error comes back.

    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

Great, thanks for chasing that down too. I thought of SpySweeper briefly but I couldn't figure out why it would be storing files in C:\windows\temp and also couldn't determine why Windows was identifying them as a registry hive. Never a dull moment! Thanks!

    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

Yes we do have SpySweeper running on all of the servers. We do not have any of the active shields running on the servers right now and I've played with some other settings in SSweeper but nothing changed. Maybe SS is just not IE7 friendly yet. Do you also use SSweeper? If so, what build...

    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

I haven't made much progress on fixing the issue but I have confirmed that it isn't disk or file corruption. I've run the thorough chkdsk on all of the servers and nothing came back with errors. All of my affected servers are also Win2003 with IE7. My only guess is that it has something...

    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

Yes, I've run chkdsk with /f and /r. /F returns no corrections or bad sectors. /R does pretty much the same only takes a while longer. It just struck me as strange that three servers are having the same issue. I have one Win2003 box that doesn't have IE7 on it yet. I guess I could update...

    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

The files don't exist. I forgot to mention that in my first post. The file name isn't always the same either, it changes a little bit but I believe it always starts with SSxxx.tmp.

    Registry Hive Recovery - Win2003 Server SP2

Hi Everyone, I have 3 Windows 2003 servers with SP2 installed. All three will show a popup message that states: Registry Hive (File): C:\windows\temp\sst12c5.tmp was corrupted and it has been recovered. The servers run fine and reboot fine as well. They are running their current firmware...

    Catalyst 3550 PoE freeze

Hi All, I have a Cat 3550 with inline power that's freezing up for no apparent reason. I can un-plug ports that are active and the link lights do not change status, they're not blinking or responding to pings. We have to kill power and plug back in each time. There's nothing in the logs to...

    QoS limiting bandwidth?

Hi Everyone, I may be asking a dumb question here about QoS. We have a Cisco AVVID system with a Cat 6513 switch at the core. We have a lot of clients plugged into the blades of the 6513. On the workstations when the phone is plugged in, there seems to be a significant drop in network...

    Storage unit configuration...

Hi Everyone, I'm a bit of a newbie to NBU 5.0 & I'm wanting to run 2 backups at the same time. I have 2 quantum M1500 libraries that are stacked and each has 2 drives. One is connected via SCSI & the other via fiber channel to a NetApp filer. I'm dealing with the SCSI device only this...

    Duplicate image & potential restores...

I was able to take a restore image and duplicate it very easily. Then I found the image in the catalog and made it the new primary. Ran a restore and everything went well with the original tape off-site. Thanks!!!

    Duplicate image & potential restores...

Thanks guys for the responses. That article did help me out quite a bit. Always learning a little more with this software. Thanks again!

    Duplicate image & potential restores...

Hi Everyone, When working with duplicates, does it basically read the original and copy the same contents to the destination tape? So effectively, I have the same backup on 2 different tapes? If that is the case, can I choose which tape to use during a restore or is NBU able to prompt me...

NetBackup 5.0 MP5 Disaster Recovery simulation...

Hi All, I will be doing a DR test at our 3rd party site and I'd like to get a feel for what will be necessary to restore data to servers. Reading some Veritas docs it looks like bprecover will be the command used to restore catalogs and tape information. Then choose my policies, data to...

NetBackup policy hangs on W2k3 +SP1 servers...

Hi All, I have 4 Windows 2003 Servers with SP1 that will not back up to tape. They ALL hang while trying to backup COM+ Application...It will only copy around 40 - 50 MB then stop writing. The job will not die or fail bt will linger on for days if I let it. I have a basic policy using the...
