i forgot to add that after i enabled username mapping, i mapped root to root:
net user /map root root
it authenticated fine (i'm using NT Passthrough Authentication)but i can't access the fast connect server

2. i deleted username root:
net user /delete root
3. i added root to fast connect:
net user /add root "password" [/active:yes
but i'm still having the same problem

No, direct login as root is not disabled.
I can remotely login as root using conventional methods.
I just can't access Fast Connect file shares after i've mapped a username to root.

I'm able to map a windows username to root, but I cannot access any of the fileshares. Mapping windows usernames to any other aix username works fine.
Am I missing something?

Where is the Exchange Server Binary?
Running Exchange2000 on a W2K Server.
I need to edit the system variables by putting in the path to the exchange server binary in the path description of the windows box that exchange is running on.
Is this path c:\exchsrvr\bin?

I'm having connection issues with XP workstations connecting to shared directories on an AIX p620 server.
AIX Fast Connect is being used so the windows boxes can map to directories on the server.
The problem is that the connection is not consistent.

If I log into Exchange as Administrator and try to add a user to a site object and give them Services Admin rights, it doesn't work.

Didn't touch the other (2) partitions.

I only get this error if I'm logged on as any user other than the local Administrator.

Thanks stiddy. Adding the global group worked to access all the other applications I installed, but it's still having problems w/ Office XP programs. Whenever I try to open an excel file I get an invalid path or missing file error. Any suggestions other than re-installing Office?
