I did a clean install of Win 98 and then upgraded with Win 2000 Pro. It has worked fine for a month now and then all of the sudden this.... There has been nothing added or changed since. My only guess is the power supply. I will give that a try. Thanks

I have recently installed Win 2000 Pro (server for a two pc network) For no reason it powers down before it even gets all the way into windows. I also cannot get in via safemode as it powers down. It is like you turn the power button off every time. I have tried this over 20 times with no luck...

That was addressed above your posting. Come to find out I had some compaq monitor file that was causing the problem.

I understand that Win SE cannot be a server for a VPN. Is this the same for Win ME? If so should I upgrade to Win2000 or something else?? I am currently running a two computer network in the office that I want to allow one VPN connection to the server. Thanks Kurt

I had that thought also but being as I have a Compaq there is only like 3 things you can even do in the bios. Unfortunately, that was not one of them.

No, I am not on a network and I did do a fdisk and reinstalled to try and fix it. This all happened when I upgraded my HD (added a 40gb) and slaved my old drive. Though, I don't think that is necesarily related as everything else works fine???

I'm guessing my solution is a VPN. I want to be able to access a two computer network from home in order to get into the accounting software etc. There is a cable internet connection at both ends. I believe both machines are Win 98(one may be Win2000). I am not sure how to proceed at this...
