    THanks for all the help, I think my problem is the console cable. I will have to get it from Dick Smith, as I am in NZ. I will give it a go, everything is in pieces at the moment, as I am relocating the network, so most of it is unplugged.

    It's a Superstack II Switch 3000. Ideally I would love a Cisco switch, but I got it for $5, so I'm not complaining.

    I have a Cisco 837 router coneected to a 3COM 12 port switch, and was wondering if there is any way I can see the IP address of this switch? I cannot connect via console into the switch, and have tried the default IP address, but to no avail.
